Today’s Word is “Pierced”.
Over the last few days the Lord has been painting a fragmented picture in my mind. He showed me an archer notching his arrow and preparing to take aim. He then showed me a target, but not a target such as we know, but a human heart. I saw the archer again, this time, I saw him concentrate on the target and let the arrow fly. I then saw the heart pierced.
This is what I heard the Lord say “My ways are much different than your ways. What appears to you to be heartache and loss are platforms for My love to grow. I have pierced your heart with My Love and I will cause it to grow. A heart filled with My Love knows no boundaries, goes where I send it and leaves the fragrant aroma of My Presence in its wake. Though the battle seemed long and bloody, I have stood in heaven on your behalf. I AM for you and not against you. Breathe deep of My Love for you, let it fill the depths of your being. Listen to Me as I mediate for you, follow the trail of Love I have left in your heart. Look beyond your situation and see how much Love I have for you and know I AM your Mediator. I AM for you and not against you.”
“I was living quietly until he shattered me. He took me by the neck and broke me in pieces. Then he set me up as his target, and now his archers surround me. His arrows pierce me without mercy. The ground is wet with my blood. Again and again he smashes against me, charging at me like a warrior. I wear burlap to show my grief. My pride lies in the dust. My eyes are red with weeping; dark shadows circle my eyes. Yet I have done no wrong, and my prayer is pure. “O earth, do not conceal my blood. Let it cry out on my behalf. Even now my witness is in heaven. My advocate is there on high. My friends scorn me, but I pour out my tears to God. I need someone to mediate between God and me, as a person mediates between friends. For soon I must go down that road from which I will never return” (Job 16: 12-22).
As I reflect on this word, I am reminded that God loves us so much, He will pierce our hearts in the places we need it most. Often, we see our circumstances as coming against us, but what if…what if…they are ordained to pierce our hearts and bring the Light of Love into the space to be poured out upon others? A heart full of love truly knows no boundaries, stops at nothing and is not fearful. A heart full of love worships the Lord in spirit and in truth and is contagious enough for others to desire. A heart full of love is humble in action and powerful in silence. This is one archer I hope has my heart as a target. What about you?
Too often we get caught up in the day to day activities of life. We obsess over our workday before we even get to work, and while we’re there, we obsess over what needs to be done at home. We have many choices ahead of us each day and we can sometimes let the one choice that truly directs our steps to go unchosen. Friends, this is a dangerous place, and one I know all too well. Sometimes our diligence and faithfulness in our jobs and family life can cause us to forget how faithful and merciful God is. Life encroaches, it happens, we need to remember to push back and sit in the presence of God. Often.
Today’s Jesus Calling by Sarah Young:
As you look into the day that stretches out before you, you see many choice-points along the way. The myriad possibilities these choices present can confuse you. Draw your mind back to the threshold of this day, where I stand beside you, lovingly preparing you for what is ahead.
You must make your choices one at a time, since each is contingent upon the decision that precedes it. Instead of trying to create a mental map of your path through this day, focus on My loving Presence with you. I will equip you as you go, so that you can handle whatever comes your way. Trust Me to supply what you need when you need it (Lamentations 3:22-26; Psalm 34:8).
Today’s word is “Promise Keeper”.
Has God given you a promise? Has He declared something over your life or the lives of your loved ones? All the promises of God are Yes and Amen! Hold on to your promises, I guarantee they are coming to fulfillment.
I hear the Lord saying “I AM the Lord and I do not lie. I AM the Promise Keeper. All the promises I have given you shall be fulfilled. Be still and know that I AM God, I AM your place of rest, I AM your place of peace. Assure yourselves and understand that My Word accomplishes all that I send it out to do. My Word is living and powerful, able to fulfill My Promises and able to cut and separate the bone from the marrow in your life to bring My Promises to fruition. Be still and know that I AM God, do not run ahead of My Promise, do not look for them in yesterday, and do not hold on to what I no longer have for you today. Look up and rest assured that My Promises to you will be filled. Trust Me and see My Faithfulness, and the fulfillment of My Promises to you.”
For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us (2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV).
God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good (Numbers 23:19)?
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:11).
Today’s Word is “Love”.
I have noticed a common theme over the last few months, and that is one of “Love”, not love as we know and understand it, but Love as God defined it, as God gives it, as God IS. Today, perhaps, I’ve had the biggest reminder of the many facets of God’s love and the importance it plays in our daily lives. This may be because this is the week we remember what LOVE did for us, the price LOVE paid, the work that LOVE worked.
I see two hearts, not hearts as inside our bodies, but hearts as we draw and express our love shorthand (♥). One heart has many interconnected chambers and there is fluid wind moving about, sweeping and washing the chambers, flowing from one to the next and then outward from inside the heart, as it overflows.
The other heart has chambers, but they are each covered with different filters, some have very fine netting such as cheesecloth, others have larger weave netting such as window screens. I see the fluid wind moving about inside this heart as well, but each time it passes through a filter, part of it remains in the chamber. There isn’t much left of it as it tries to move outside the heart.
I hear the Lord say “I have called you to be a conduit of My Love. My Love is to flow through you, not be filtered by you. Your heart will reveal itself through the lips of your mouth. If you have filtered My Love, then the truth you say you speak has been tainted by the filter of your heart, rendering your word ineffective. When you allow My Love to freely move and flow, the truth you speak will be effective. Do not be deceived in the movement of ‘speaking the truth in love’ when Love is not what you speak. Beware of speaking demeaning and shameful ‘truth’ to others when you know not of the depths of the Love in their hearts, nor have you allowed My Love to penetrate deeply and overflow in your heart. I see and know the thoughts and intents of your heart, I know you mean well, but you must first allow My Spirit to cleanse your heart and baptize you in My Love. It is because of My Love for you that I do this work in you. Bring every thought and word and deed you are considering before Me and allow Me to shed the Light of My Love upon it. My Grace and Mercy shall go before you and My Spirit will give you the Truth to speak and the Love in which to do it.”
And the same one who descended is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that he might fill the entire universe with himself. Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love (Ephesians 4:10-16 NLT).
Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13).
No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us (1 John 4:12).
I often pray to be baptized in God’s love, and I have realized this is not an “all at once” process, it’s actually a gradual one. When I realized this, I shared with a friend that I believed if God actually baptized us “in full” with His love, we would not be able to stand. His love would drop us to our knees with a quickness! I am amazed at how much He loves us and how, when we open our hearts to Him and allow Him to flow through us, He pours Himself out through us towards others.
Have a love-filled day!
Today’s Word is “Port in the Storm”.
I see a small row boat in the middle of the vast ocean. The seas are choppy and the wind is boisterous. There are waves crashing about the boat and it is tossed to and fro, buffeted from all sides and seems to almost tip over after every crashing wave. I see the boat’s occupant standing firmly, searching the seas for a place of safety, respite from the deluge. The occupant looks all about and seems to settle on a direction. I turn my eyes in the direction the boat’s occupant is gazing and see a small port in the distance. Then I see the boat moving towards the port, as though supernaturally guided; despite the storm whipping around the boat, I notice there is no more rain, wave, or wind touching the occupant.
I heard the Lord say “I AM your port in this storm. Though this life is filled with turbulence, do not fear. Stand firmly rooted in Me and know that I AM with you and I AM your place of refuge. Know that I command the wind and the wave, and when I say ‘Peace, Be Still!’ they obey. Though you may see and feel the buffeting and crashing wave, stand, for I AM taking the brunt of the storm on your behalf, and My Peace will engulf you, shielding you from any damage the storm would normally bring. Understand that as you stand, you must also rest knowing I have already brought you the victory. This storm you travel through is only a shadow and My Light reveals the shadows; know and understand no harm comes from a shadow. Allow My Spirit to steer your boat into My Port, into My Place of Refuge and rest knowing My Peace is your shield.”
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm (Mark 4:39 NKJV).
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).
Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong (1 Corinthians 16:13).
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand (Ephesians 6:13).
Then they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are quiet; so He guides them to their desired haven (Psalm 107:28-30).
Today’s Word is “Fiery Furnace”.
I heard the Lord say, “I AM with you in the fiery furnace. Do not despair when it looks as though your life is being stolen from you, for I AM with you. If I AM with you, there is nothing that can touch you for no one can come against you. If I AM with you, there is no reason to fear. I AM Love and My Love casts out fear and covers you, My Love protects and shelters you. Lean on Me, trust Me to walk with you through the fire, for I will never leave you, I will not forsake you. Be encouraged in the fire, I AM with you and you will not be harmed.”
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king (Daniel 3:16-17 NKJV).
Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God” (Daniel 3:25).
I know how easy it is to think we are alone when we face circumstances or situations such as Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego faced, especially when we are buffeted on a level we did not expect. However, God always has an encouraging word for us. When we solely trust in Him to deliver us, He does not fail. Our God is faithful and true, He is right there with us, walking in the midst of the fire. How cool is that?
Today’s word is “Deeper”.
I see a pool at the bottom of the waterfall. The water is so clear, yet the bottom cannot be seen. There are swimmers in the water – diving, swimming, laughing. They are refreshed, and when they dive, they are down for a very long time. I wonder how they can breathe under the water, and how they are not gasping for breath when they come up. One of the swimmers sees me and beckons me to come and swim. Fearful that the water will be cold, I gingerly step in. The water is the perfect temperature and soon I am floating. As I swim and begin to go underwater, I realize I can still breathe. All the fatigue and cares are gone from my shoulders, and I discover I am swimming further and further down. As I look at the water from underneath, I notice I am seeing things with absolute clarity- there is no underwater dirt cloud, no obstructions, only clear, clean, refreshing water.
I hear the Lord say “Come deeper with Me. Come into My pool of refreshment and seek the deeper things. Deep calls out to deep, your heart longs to see the deep and secret things. Shake off your garment of heaviness and put on the garment of praise, step into the water and swim with me at the base of the waterfall. I have all you need, I AM all you need. Do not be content to scratch the surface and stay floating on top, come deeper with Me.”
Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me (Psalm 42:7 NKJV).
Let your cry come to me, and I will give you an answer, and let you see great things and secret things of which you had no knowledge (Jeremiah 33:3 BBE).
