Do the Needful

Do the Needful

These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs (Matthew 6:32 NLT).

Years ago I worked as a property tax research specialist for a company who did outsource work for a well known nationwide mortgage company. Their customer service department was outsourced as well, to a non-US based company. English was not the first language and there were times when this was evident when deciphering the tax research required from the notes left. There was one customer service rep who never typed anything more than “do the needful” in a customer’s account, ensuring we covered every base since we did not know what needed to be done or the reason the customer called. Research cases from this particular rep always took longer than necessary because there was no direction in the account notes.

There are times in our prayer life when we have a need, but are unable to articulate it explicitly. These are the times when we simply say “Papa, do the needful!” I am grateful He does not need direction when it comes to this kind of prayer, aren’t you? He knows what we need, when we need it and how best to meet that specific need.

Let’s Pray: Dear Papa, thank You for knowing our needs before we are able to express them. Your knowledge of our heart’s cry brings us comfort in those moments when we can do no more than say “do the needful”.  You are the faithful giver of peace in all our situations, and we are so grateful for Your hand in our lives. Because of You, we do not have to worry that our prayer will be answered, we know it will. Thank you, Papa! Amen.

Today’s Attitude of Worship: No matter what your need is, Papa does not require direction in meeting it. Trust Him to provide what you need and thank Him for it!
