Today is named LOOK UP because too often and too easily we tend to look down at our circumstances, focusing on them. Admittedly, it can be difficult to look away from them at times; they are often like a major slap in the face. Papa doesn’t want us to get hung up on the immediacy of circumstances but on the permanency of His faithfulness. There is nothing we face, known or unknown, that looking up to Papa can’t diminish. He is with us, an ever present help, in all our circumstances and He is faithful to deliver.”God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble” (Psalms 46:1 NLT).
“I look up to the mountains – does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth” (Psalms 121:1-2).
Today is named LET GO because we all have things we need to release in order to move forward. Sometimes we hold on to things, people, situations, thoughts, etc. because they are familiar. We take comfort in holding on. Most of the time what we grip so tightly are the things we desperately need to let go.
God does not want for us to hold on to old feelings of guilt, bitterness, unforgiveness, toxic relationships, toxic memories and thoughts. He doesn’t want us to become stagnant in our pasts. He wants us ever moving onward and upward, growing daily.
We can’t grab what we are meant to have today if we are clamped on to what we had yesterday.
“I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” (Philippians 3:12-14 NLT)
Today is named MUSIC because there is background music playing for us all the time. Our attitudes and circumstances will sometimes affect it. There are times we may hear the music and others where we simply just feel the beat. All of heaven is rooting for us and our Heavenly Father rejoices over us with singing. If we still ourselves in the midst of adversity, we just might hear Him.
“For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With His love He will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs” (Zephaniah 3:17 NLT).
Today is named FIGHT because we need to discern the difference between a fight God wants to handle and one He wants us to grab our sword for. Our fight is not in this world, but in the Spirit. Depending on the season of growth we are in as well as the circumstances, God lets us know whether to let Him take over or if we need to step foward and fight through.”The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace” (Exodus 14:14 NKJV).
“For we are not fighting agains flesh and blood enemies but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world and against evil spirits in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12 NLT).
Today is named GRACE because no matter how much we think we fail or how far we fall, Papa’s grace is there to pick us up. His grace does not allow us to sin, but it is more abundant when we do. Because of grace, we are not kicked to the curb or forsaken when we sin. His grace is sufficient to carry us through the toughest of times and it gives us the ability to do what He has given us to do. Grace is a gift that keeps on giving.
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield, the Lord will give grace and glory, no good thing will be witheld from those who walk uprightly” (Psalms 84:11 NKJV).
“Morever the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death even so grace might reign through righteousness to enternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord” (Romans 5:20-21).
Today is named SPEAK because the words we speak shape our atmosphere. Every word out of our mouth will either ignite a forest fire, or quench a thirsty and weary soul. Our words either bless or curse, help or hurt, build up or tear down. We must choose carefully the words we speak.”But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so” (James 3: 8-10 NKJV)
“For the Scriptures say ‘If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies'” (1 Peter 3:10 NLT).
Today is named POWER because we are powered by the Holy Spirit. Through this power all of heaven is available to us. When we move ourselves aside and let the Spirit work through us, there is nothing that can stand in our way. Too many of us walk powerless because we deny the Spirit’s power and try to accomplish things in our own strength. Why not plug in to the ultimate power source?
“God is my strength and power, and He makes my way perfect” (2 Samuel 22:33).
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind ” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Today is named SERVE because within each of us is the ability to find and fill needs. In serving others, we often will find fulfillment that only service provides. This is due to the fact that we are each uniquely created and possessing a special gift that someone else needs. We were designed to need and serve one another. There is always an area where your service is needed.
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give His life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45 NLT).
“God has given each of you a gift from His great variet of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another” (1 Peter 4:10).
Today is named ANGEL because angelic activity goes on all around us. Papa sends angels on assignment all the time and they often help us when we are unaware. Sometimes they even wear human skin and we entertain them. We really are never alone.
“For He will order His angels to protect you wherever you go” (Psalm 91:11 NLT).
“Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it” (Hebrews 13:2).
Today is named SOLID because in, and with, Christ we are solid. We have a solid foundation; solid faith; solid walk; solid hope; we are solid. Because of this, we will not crumble under adversity, but become stronger in our solidarity.
“He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along” (Psalms 40:2 NLT).
“It’s like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against the house, it stands firm because it is well built” (Luke 6:48).
